What is the meaning of symbols in Ace of Swords Tarot Card?
The Ace of Swords Tarot card depicts a hand floating in the air, emerging from the clouds. The hand grips tightly the sword topped with a crown. Two green branches hang from the crown: olive (symbol of peace) and palm (symbol of victory). At the bottom of the Arcana we see high mountains. This is a sign of achievements and successfully overcome difficulties and obstacles.
The Ace of Swords is the element of air in its purest form. It personifies thought and judgment. The sword destroys all illusions, helping to see things in their true light.
This sword is you. A keen intellect is a double-edged weapon. Man and his mind may be the crown of creation, but clearly not the highest stage of progress.
Symbolism of the Card
Hand of the Creator
It symbolizes the impulse, the chance that falls. The sword that he offers you is the Gift. You are dardy to yourself and to others. Accept it and use it for good. Understand it, learn to own it, and let the beacon of reason shine.
Sword
It is an important magic symbol (magic sword, dagger). As a symbol of protection, it is depicted with the point down. Sometimes, if the point is directed upwards, then it is crowned with a crown. This is a symbol of the “sword of God”. It also symbolizes feeling and flexibility, spirituality and intelligence.
Crown
Symbolizes strength, power, law. It is also supreme knowledge. It portends either the beginning of overcoming difficulties, or victory over them.
Palm Branch of Victory and Olive Branch of Peace
Ambiguous symbols. The olive branch was brought by the dove to Noah after he released it from the Ark, as a sign of reconciliation between God and humanity. The palm branch is associated with suffering, but also with the victory of the martyr over death. There are many similarities between palm and olive branches. The idea of decorating the winners with wreaths of palm and olive dates back to antiquity.
The presence of these branches indicates victory, peace and justice. It also symbolizes the exaltation, crowning and glorification of nature with the help of reason.
Six Golden Drops
Symbolizes the Spark of Divine Fire, the spark of reason. 6 is balance.
According to Waite, a hint of the Six of Swords, the only auspicious card of this suit, as well as the possibility of choice.
Blue-Violet Mountains
Indicates abstractness, a mental approach, from a bird’s-eye view.
Mountain Landscape
Mountains are a symbol of height, clarity of knowledge. They also indicate the obstacles and difficulties that will have to be faced. This is the power of authority, indomitable energy.
Attribute of the element of Air. This is the border between earth and sky.
Grey Sky
A symbol of neutrality, objectivity, calmness, poise, fairness and lack of prejudice. But also a symbol of clouded thinking, apathy and inexpressiveness.
Arcana Ace of Swords is a powerful card of the air element, a card of the mind and the domination of intellect. Exercise your intelligence and control over your emotions and you will surely reach your goal.
